Learning about Forests Themes
The Learning about Forests programme is operated in a thematic manner. To begin, participating schools are encouraged to work on the LEAF Theme that appeals to them the most and focus on one Theme per year. Keeping in mind that there is much overlap and no Theme is isolated. The Learning about Forests programme and the LEAF Themes are aligned with the three pillars of Education for Sustainable Development (economy, education and society). There are five overarching LEAF Themes covering all major functions of forests.
The 5 LEAF Themes are: Forestry & Biodiveristy; Forestry & Climate; Forestry & Water; Forestry & Community; Forestry & Products.
LEAF International have an overall theme for every year and in 2018 it is Forests & Energy. We aim to integrate this overall theme into our school based and forest based workshops.
