Learning about Forests (LEAF) joins forces with Leave No Trace Ireland to promote and inspire responsible outdoor recreation and training through education.

The LEAF programme will use Coillte’s Curragh Chase Forest Park as a focal point. The aim is to bring each of the participating schools to the park at least once during the course of the school year. The park, which is managed by Collite, covers 313 hectares of mixed woodlands, park land and lakes which together provide a rich habitat for a diverse range of animals and plants. All Coillte Forest Parks promote the Leave No Trace principals. This partnership between LEAF and Leave No Trace Ireland will help facilitate exchange of best practice and educate children how to care for their local forest parks, natureĀ and each other.

When bringing students to the Forest Park, the LEAF team will educate and encourage students to have a positive impact on the environment and minimise their negative impact.
